Besides the cities of Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai, the newly uncovered India Live Search Maps from Microsoft India also include Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Jaipur, and Pune for providing detailed data like addresses, road-networks, area-information, landmarks, elaborate street-maps, monuments, hotels & restaurants, and other similar places of public interest. Proposal for covering more cities is under serious consideration, and soon the Live Search Maps for India will extend it’s city-base to about 30. They also have planned to enhance their offered-features by including driving directions based upon landmark identities, and incorporating developer communities among others.

The newly launched service of Microsoft India can be accessed through both PC and mobile from Microsoft’s Live Search Service, and it is the first of its kind that offers detailed local mapping service in India. “Over the last two years, Microsoft has made significant investments into research and development for Live Search, acquired global resources and introduced several new features which we believe are extremely relevant and will deliver great value to our users,” said Microsoft India’s consumer & online marketing operations Head Rishi Srivastava. “Live Search Maps for India will allow users to search for geographical information, places of general interest and business listings both on the PC and mobile phones,” he added.

“In the near future we plan to add new features such as landmark based driving directions, collections search, options for enterprise customers and developer community to create custom mash-ups, along with satellite imagery and related features for India and key cities,” said Gurpreet S Pall, GM, Live Search and MSN Technologies, Microsoft India Development Centre.
