BlackBerry App World is the name of Research in Motion's yet-to-be launched mobile application storefront.
The company officially unveiled the name - BlackBerry App World- for the store, which is set to go head-to-head with Apple's iTunes App Store and the Android Market.
According to a company spokesperson, the newly branded site should be online soon. As for a public launch of the store, www.BlackBerry.com will also feature a mailing list for users who want to be notified when it goes live. For that BlackBerry fans will have to sign up at www.blackberry.com/appworld .
At the same time, the spokeswoman said, RIM will be relaunching its BlackBerry developer site.
BlackBerry App World is RIM's attempt to emulate some of the iPhone's phenomenal success with consumers, who can choose from thousands of applications in the iPhone apps store on iTunes.
