Cell phone manufacturers are ready to launch a wide variety of touch phones to popularize them. The high price range of the iphones motivated the manufacturers to introduce more and more models of touch phone.
Nokia is coming up with its first touch phone Nokia 5800 in November this year. Nokia India MD D Shivakumar said, “We do not have any touch phone in the market currently, but we have announced the launch of Nokia 5800 in November this year.”
Meridian Mobiles CEO Rajiv Khanna said, “The market is now consciously moving to full touch-screen phones and small-screen models are fast being replaced by large-screen ones.” Meridian Mobile is reportedly planning to launch six touch phones in the range of Rs 8,000-12,000 range within this year. But HTC mobiles is still unbeatable as 11 out of the 13 HTC mobiles are touch phones.
LG Mobile has four touch phones in the market in the Rs 10,000-20,000 range and it reportedly plans to introduce two more in December this year. Motorola currently has three touch phones in the market which are priced in the Rs 7,900- 30,500 range. It also plans to launch a few more touch phones within this year.
