Domestic device brand Xolo (a Lava company), has launched
two smartphones under its new Omega brand - Omega 5.0 and 5.5 at Rs 8,999 and
Rs 9,999, respectively.
The phones come with a curved back for a better grip and smooth edges and sport embedded power and volume rocker keys. While the Omega 5.0 features a 5-inch HD (720x1280p) IPS display, the Omega 5.5 comes with a 5.5-inch HD display.
The Omega phones are powered by a 1.4GHz MediaTek oct-core processor, Mali-450MP4 graphics engine and 1GB RAM. These come with 8GB storage and a microSD card slot that supports cards of up to 32GB capacity.
Xolo's custom Android ROM, Hive UI, launched first on its 8X-1000, powers the two Omega phones. It rolls out an over-the-air software update every fortnight with various new features, performance enhancements and bug fixes, based on the recommendations of the users. Hive UI is based on Android 4.4 KitKat.
Xolo Omega 5.0 sports an 8MP rear camera with Sony Exmor R sensor and 5 piece lens with LED flash and a 2MP front-facing camera. Its 5.5-inch sibling has a 13MP camera with Sony Exmor RS sensor and a 2MP front camera.
In terms of connectivity, the dual-sim phones support Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, 3G and GPS. The Omega 5.0 packs in a 2100mAh battery while Omega 5.5 comes with a 2600mAh battery.
