LG G6 To Be Waterproof
There are rumors about LG’s upcoming flagship Smartphone LG G6. The Smartphone will succeed the company's last year flagship Smartphone LG G5 and launch in February 2017 at the Mobile World Congress (Barcelona).

Latest rumors about the device suggest that it will be waterproof. The waterproofing material is also being said to be added to the USB connector, earphone terminal as well as camera cover glass.

Also unlike G5 Smartphone, LG G6 will not be a modular Smartphone. Many feel that it is not easy replacing so many modules. The modular structure is the key highlight of LG G5.
Earlier this week, LG launched its dual-screen Smartphone V20 in India. Priced at Rs 54,999, the Smartphone is available exclusively on Amazon's India website.

The LG V20 is the first non-Google Smartphone to come with Android Nougat 7.0 out-of-the-box. It's also the first handset to use Google's 'In Apps' feature that lets users find content from built-in apps including contacts, emails, text messages and photos and user-installed apps.

Tegra 3-powered LG Optimus 4X HD coming soon
While 2011 was the year of mobile phones with big screens and dual-core processors, 2012 is expected to be all about the quad-core processor and despite devices using such a chip failing to appear during CES 2012, they’ll be making a big splash at Mobile World Congress.

The rumors have been spreading for months, beginning with last year’s announcement of the Tegra 3 and Qualcomm’s APG8064, then continuing with talk of various tablets and phones such as the HTC Edge/Endeavor, the Samsung Galaxy S III and the LG X3.

Being first out of the gate with a quad-core device is important for the marketeers, who just love the opportunity to liberally sprinkle press releases with the phrase “world’s first,” and once again it’s LG who gets that honor.

Seeing as the Korean company gave us the “world’s first” dual-core smartphone, the Optimus 2X, it seems fitting that this year we’ve got the Optimus 4X HD - the first official quad-core smartphone.

Tegra 3:
It’s not just any quad-core chip either, but Nvidia’s impressive Tegra 3, as seen in another “world’s first,” the Asus Eee Pad Transformer 2 tablet. Rated at 1.5Ghz, the 4X HD’s chip is slightly more powerful too, plus the phone has 1GB of RAM to keep things running smoothly.

Ever since the Tegra 3′s announcement, Nvidia has tried to explain its clever architecture, where the four cores are supported by a fifth core which will take care of the more mundane tasks, and therefore putting less strain on the battery.

It has now come up with a more “unique and descriptive” name to help customers understand why their new quad-core phone really has five cores. Nvidia’s calling the system 4-PLUS-1.

Optimus 4X HD:
While the Tegra 3 chip may be stealing the headlines, the rest of the Optimus 4X’s features are similarly high-end. As you may have guessed from the use of HD in its name, the phone’s 4.7-inch LCD screen has a resolution of 1280 x 720, so the sharpness should still be there despite its size.

Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is the operating system of choice, to which LG has added its own user interface over the top. Other features include 16GB of internal memory, DLNA connectivity and a hefty 2150mAh battery, and yet LG has squeezed all this into a chassis which measures 8.9mm.

On the rear of the phone is an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash, while around the front is a 1.3-megapixel video call lens, however as yet there’s no mention of either an NFC chip or a 4G LTE variant.

Launch date:
More information on the Optimus 4X HD will be provided during Mobile World Congress next week, and LG says the phone will be released in Europe between March and June, but it has yet to confirm an international or North American launch.

LG TV crowned Best Gadget at the CES
A razor-thin television from LG Electronics was crowned best gadget of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and Microsoft was a big winner in its final appearance at the annual trade event.

The 55-inch (140-centimeter) TV set set from the South Korean electronics giant is just 0.16 inches (four millimeters) thick and uses OLED, or organic light-emitting diode, display technology.

OLED TVs do not require backlighting and feature better color contrast than standard flat-screen LEDs and LG and another South Korean titan, Samsung, both wowed the crowds at CES in Las Vegas with 55-inch models.

A panel of experts from technology news site CNET awarded the LG 55EM9800 the title of "Best TV" at CES but also named it "Best of Show" among the thousands of new products on display at the four-day event.

CNET said it gave the nod to the LG TV over the Samsung model in part because it has an actual shipping date - the third quarter of the year.

When the super-set does finally hit the market it won't be for just anyone - the 55-inch LG OLED TV is expected to cost several thousand dollars.

Microsoft, which has announced that this year's CES will be its last, saw products powered by its Windows software scoop up a couple of awards.

The Lumia 900 touchscreen from Finland's Nokia was named best cellphone and the Envy 14 Spectre laptop from Hewlett-Packard was tapped as the best computer.

The Lumia 900, which runs on Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 operating system, is seen as Nokia's bid to break into a US smartphone market dominated by Apple's iPhone and handsets powered by Google's Android software.

The Windows-powered HP Envy 14 Spectre is what is known as an "ultrabook," a slim, lightweight laptop in a category pioneered by Apple's MacBook Air.

The HP Envy 14 Spectre is to go on sale in February for $1,399. Pricing and availability of the Lumia 900 have not yet been released.

BlueStacks for Windows, a program which will ship on some upcoming Windows 8 computers, was named best software application. BlueStacks provides access to the hundreds of thousands of Android applications.

Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer or his predecessor, Bill Gates, have delivered the opening keynote address at CES for the past 15 years and the US software giant has traditionally had one of the largest booths on the exhibition floor.

But Microsoft announced last month that it is bowing out of the show, which attracted more than 3,100 exhibitors this year, because the January timing does not coincide with its product development calendar.

An Android-powered tablet computer from Taiwan's Asus, the Asus Memo 370T, was named best tablet at a show which featured dozens of new rivals to Apple's iPad.

The Asus Memo 370T, which has a seven-inch (17.8-cm) screen, is powered by the latest version of Android software for tablets and costs $250, half the price of the cheapest iPad.
Other CES winners were the mirrorless Fujifilm X-Pro 1, which was named best camera, and the MakerBot Replicator, which snatched the title of "Best Emerging Tech Product."

The MakerBot Replicator is what is known as a 3D printer and can make objects as large as a loaf of bread by working off a blueprint fed into the machine.

Last year's winner of the "Best in Show" title was the "Xoom" tablet computer from Motorola but it has failed to make any headway against the iPad.

The 2009 CES winner was a smartphone from Palm, the Pre.

Sales of the Pre failed to live up to expectations and the company was bought the next year by HP, which has since stopped making cellphones using Palm's webOS mobile operating system.

LG to unveil Google TV next week
LG Electronics Inc said it would unveil its first Google TV next week, joining Sony Corp and Samsung Electronics Co in partnering with the search giant to get a foothold in the emerging Internet TV market.

Google hopes to replicate the success of its Android mobile software in the TV market, but its attempt to conquer the living room has seen limited success so far due to a lack of web content and support from hardware manufacturers.

Google TV allows consumers to access online videos and websites on their TVs, as well as specialized apps such as video games. Currently it comes built-in on certain Sony television models and Samsung is also working with the U.S. firm to launch Google TVs.

LG said it would introduce its first Google TV next week at the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Google said that chipmaker Marvell Technology Group, chip designer MediaTek and TV manufacturer Vizio were also new partners for its Google TV service.

Grappling with slowing demand and cutthroat competition, TV manufacturers hope forays into the Internet TV market will help cushion squeezed margins.

LG to unveil 84-Inch 3D TV at CES 2012
LG Electronics appears poised to make a major push at the Consumer Electronics Show. The company has been offering a slew of announcements this week, with the latest being an 84-inch 3D Smart TV with ultra definition display technology.

Havis Kwon, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Home Entertainment Co., said LG is pushing the limits of home entertainment innovation with this 3D UD TV, on display at CES in Las Vegas Jan. 10-13.

"We are bringing together all our Smart TV and 3D knowledge in the 3D UD TV in order to demonstrate to the CES audience that LG is committed to being the world's leading brand for immersive home entertainment in 2012 and beyond," Kwon said.

High Resolution Advances:
LG's 3D UD TV, at 3740x2160, offers 8 million pixels. That's four times the resolution clarity of existing full HD TV panels. The new model offers a slim, narrow bezel design, 3D depth control to let viewers customize their viewing experience by controlling the 3D effect, and 3D Sound Zooming to offer 3D sound a la home theater systems.

With the new model, consumers access LG's Smart TV ecosystem, which offers more than 1,200 apps and gives users access to a growing range of premium content services. At the 3D Zone, for example, viewers can select from a wealth of 3D movies.

LG said the embedded 2D to 3D conversion engine expands the availability of 3D content. Users can browse and navigate the Smart TV ecosystem using LG's new, ergonomically designed Magic Remote, which recognizes four types of command input: Voice Recognition, Wheel, Magic Gesture and Point.

Cinema TV and 3D Glasses:
In other innovations, LG plans to introduce the LW6500, a Cinema 3D TV, at CES. The new model doesn't require shutter glasses, so images displayed on the set are free from flicker. Without the flicker, 3D viewing is more comfortable and less likely to cause a viewer's eyes to get tired.

For models that need 3G glasses, LG is rolling out a new collection, including a pair designed by eyewear designer Alain Mikli. LG said the new collection is lighter and more comfortable to wear and offers upgraded features like curved lenses and a clean frame structure.

"Compared to active shutter glasses, LG's 3D glasses are far more comfortable to wear and much more affordable, making it possible for large groups and entire families to watch 3D programs and movies together," Kwon said. "LG is addressing two of the biggest barriers to 3D acceptance head-on and we're confident consumers will react favorably to our strategy in the coming year."

LG announces World's Largest OLED TV Panel
LG's upcoming OLED TV panel measures 55 inches and comes with a contrast ratio of over 100,000:1, the company has announced.

The panel is also just 5 mm thin and has a color gamut that is "wider" than that produced by LCD panels. All of these characteristics make it a candidate for bringing OLED TV technology to the masses in a market that's still dominated by LCDs.

"Although OLED technology is seen as the future of TV display, the technology has been limited to smaller display sizes and by high costs, until now. LG Display's 55-inch OLED TV panel has overcome these barriers," said Sang Beom Han, CEO and Executive Vice President of LG Display.

We'll hear more of this panel at the next CES, along with those WiDi-supporting CINEMA 3D Smart TVs LG has announced earlier this month.

Siemens sues Samsung and LG
German industrial giant Siemens has filed suit against both South Korea’s LG and Samsung in Germany and the United States, alleging the companies are infringing on Siemens LED patents in both back-lit flat-panel LCD displays and in LED lighting. Similar suits are expected to be filed in China and Japan this week.

LED lighting applications are particularly in-demand, with the technology being applied to everything from conventional and automobile lighting to mobile phones, televisions, computer displays, and digital signage -industry watchers are seeing Siemens’ suits as a move to defend its technology from low-cost manufacturers in China and East Asia that are looking to undercut its business.

Philips and other large LED lighting makers license patents from Osram to manufacture their products; LG and Samsung do not.

The lawsuits also come just a few months before Siemens is scheduled to sell off a majority stake in Osram Opto Semiconductors, which is currently the second-largest lighting technology manufacturer in the world, following Philips. The lawsuits might be a tactic to pump up Osram’s value before the company goes on the public stock market in September.

LG announces LW6500 Cinema 3D TV
LG has announced the newest entry to their 2011 HDTV lineup-and it's a 3D TV that doesn't use the heavy, expensive active-shutter 3D glasses.

LG's new 65-inch LW6500 uses polarized lens-glasses, similar to the kinds of glasses used in 3D movie theaters, to achieve the 3D effect. Unlike active-shutter glasses, which use small LCD screens to alternately dim each lens, polarized 3D glasses don't require a battery and should be more forgiving of viewers seated at different angles. Best of all, LG claims they're "Flicker Free", with two certifications from Intertek and TÜV to bolster their claim, so you won't have that annoying flickering-light problem when you sit down to watch your 3D flicks.

Polarized 3D glasses are also significantly cheaper to manufacture and lighter (LG's glasses weigh 16 grams) so they won't be as tiring to wear. Note that there is no estimated retail price or ship date yet, though the LW6500 will roll out "in select markets" after CES.

LG isn't the only TV manufacturer to announce polarized 3D TVs, however-Vizio announced similar "Theater 3D" TV features across their entire HDTV lineup.

Also noteworthy: the LW6500 also has a film covering the screen LG calls the "3D Light Boost", which is supposed to make 3D images appear as bright as possible. No word yet on whether this affects standard 2D television viewing yet-stay tuned for hands-on updates once the show floor opens.

Of course, the LW6500 includes the standard gamut of LG features-it's an edge-lit LED display with a 200hz refresh rate, 2D-to-3D up-conversion, and LG's Smart TV Internet-connected features like LG Apps, Hulu Plus, YouTube etc.

LG Electronics to launch 8.9-inch tablet in 2011
World's No.3 handset vendor, LG Electronics Inc, plans to launch an 8.9-inch tablet device based on an upcoming version of Google’s Android OS.

The device, to run on Google's upcoming "Honeycomb" operating system tailored to tablet PCs, will be rolled out in South Korea and overseas early next year, the source said, who asked not to be identified as the new Google system has not been announced yet.

With the rollout, LG seeks to jump into the fast-growing tablet PC market that is becoming increasingly crowded with the likes of Samsung Electronis, Research In Motion and Hewlett-Packard Co and Dell.

Handset vendors and PC makers are rushing into the new category of devices, which Apple jump-started this year with its hot-selling iPad.

The upcoming LG device will be the first tablet PC for the company, after it dropped a plan to introduce tablets based on the Android 2.2 operating system, also known as "Froyo" citing the need for "the most reliable and suitable Android version," for tablets.

Samsung, however, launched Galaxy Tab, powered by Android 2.2 version, in South Korea after unveiling the 7-inch model in Europe and other Asian countries earlier.

"There's a controversy whether Froyo is a suitable system for tablet devices, but consumers will make the final call on the issue after using Galaxy Tab," said JK Shin, head of Samsung's mobile division.

The delay by LG could deal a further blow to the South Korean electronics firm, which is grappling to turn around its loss-making mobile unit due to a lack of competitive smartphone models to compete with Apple’s iPhone, RIM's BlackBerry and Samsung's Galaxy S.

LG to enter netbook market in US
The Korean consumer electronics giant, LG Electronics is gearing up to enter the booming netbook market in the US.

According to a report published by Forbes, LG will launch the X110 in the United States by July. The X110 is a 10-inch netbook. The low-cost mini-notebook, features a 1.6GHz Atom processor and 3G wireless. Although, the X110 will enter US markets now, the product is already available in many worldwide markets.

The X110’s specs are fairly conventional: an 80GB or 120GB hard drive and Windows XP Home. At the Mobile World Congress show in February, LG had introduced a newer model, the X120.

LG’s move into netbooks market makes a lot of sense. With its strong relationships with US cellular providers, LG is ideally positioned to be a major player in the netbook market. AT&T is already offering netbooks from Acer and Dell, and LG would be a nice addition.

Now get mobile with Solar Powered Cell Phones
This is going to be a wonderful gift to mobile lovers. LG and Samsung have developed prototype handsets that are recharged by solar panels built into the case. Both the companies are going to unveil their respective cell phones next week.

Samsung's solar powered phone is called Blue Earth, which is a touchscreen model with rounded corners designed to look like a “well-rounded pebble”. Continuing the environmental theme, the phone is made from recycled plastic and doesn't include harmful substances like brominated flame retardants (BFRs), Beryllium and phthalates.

While LG hasn't released much information about its prototype phone. However the device is expected to be a version of its KF750 secret handset with solar cells covering the rear of the phone's case.

Both the cell phones were almost simultaneously announced by the companies in South Korea. The solar panels on the phones occupy most of the rear of the phone's case.

In both the models, the solar panel doesn't provide enough power to run the phone directly and is used to recharge a conventional battery inside the device.
