Intex launches Aqua Fish, its Sailfish OS Smartphone
Last year at MWC Shanghai, Intex had announced a partnership with Jolla to make its Sailfish OS smartphone dubbed Intex Aqua Fish. This was Jolla's first tie-up with a smartphone vendor in India for its Sailfish platform.

After much delay, the first smartphone running Sailfish 2.0 made by Intex has been quietly launched on eBay India at a price of Rs 5,499.

The device will be available on other ecommerce platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, and Snapdeal going forward.

The device features a 5-inch 720p HD TFT display and runs a 1.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card. There is an 8MP rear camera with LED Flash along with a 2MP selfie camera.

The dual-SIM Smartphone supports 4G LTE and is backed by a 2,500mAh battery. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS among other regular features.

The interface of Sailfish OS is totally different from that of Android. It is heavily dependent on swipes and gestures. The device will be available in Black and Orange color options.

Lenovo to launch K5 Note in India
Lenovo has confirmed that it will be launching its K5 Note Smartphone in India on August 1.

Lenovo K5 Note was launched in China in January at a price of $167, which roughly translates to Rs 11,189.

Available in Golden and Silver color options, Lenovo K5 Note flaunts a 5.5-inch Full HD display with 1080x1920 pixel resolution and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop. With the older K4 Note recently having received Android Marshmallow upgrade, Lenovo is expected to offer the update to the upcoming K5 Note soon as well.

The smartphone is powered by a 1.8 GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor clubbed with 2GB of RAM. On-board storage of the handset stands at 16GB, which can be expanded further up to 128GB via microSD card.

The Smartphone also comes equipped with a fingerprint sensor and Dolby Atmos for an enhanced user experience. It features a 13MP rear camera with dual tone LED flash and an 8MP front snapper for clicking selfies. Connectivity options include 4G, LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. The dual-sim phone is backed by a 3,500 mAh battery.

It would be interesting to see whether Lenovo bundles the ANT VR headset along with the K5 Note, as it did with the K4 Note. The company recently launched the Wooden Edition of the K4 Note, priced at Rs 11,499.

Lava launches A32 and A68 Smartphones
Lava has launched two Smartphones -- A68 and A32 -- in India. Both the devices are listed on the company's website with pricing details.

Lava A86 has a 4.5-inch WVGA display with 480x800 pixel resolution and it runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Powering the Smartphone is a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, paired with 1GB of RAM.

The phone offers 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD cards. It boasts a 5MP primary camera with LED flash and a 2MP front shooter. Connectivity options of the handset include 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. Housing a 1,750mAh battery, the phone is priced at Rs 4,599.

The other device, dual-sim Lava A32 runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat. It has a 4-inch WVGA display with 480x800 pixel resolution and is powered by a 1GHz processor. The smartphone offers 256MB of RAM and 512MB of ROM. The internal storage can be expanded up to 32GB through microSD cards.

Lava A32 sports a 2MP rear camera with LED flash and a 0.3MP front camera. On the connectivity front, the handset offers 3G,Wi Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. It is backed by a 1,500mAh battery and bears a price tag of Rs 2,999.

Meizu launches MX6 Smartphone with 4GB RAM
Chinese Smartphone-maker Meizu has announced its latest flagship MX6 in the home country. Meizu MX6 flaunts a full-metal body with magnesium alloy frame and weighs 149gm. The device comes equipped with mTouch 2.1 fingerprint-recognition technology that can unlock the phone in just 0.2 seconds for payments using Alipay and WeChat.

Meizu MX6 has a 5.5-inch Full-HD display with 1080x1920 pixel resolution and narrow bezels. The handset runs Android 6.0 Marshamllow operating system topped with Meizu's Flyme UI and is powered by a 2.3GHz GHz deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 processor. It offers 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

The device features a 12MP rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, Sony IMX386 sensor and 4K recording; and a 5MP camera on the front.

The connectivity options in Meizu MX6 include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and USB Type-C. It houses a 3060 mAh battery with mCharge support which claims to charge the phone up to 65% in 30 minutes and 100% in 75 minutes.

The handset comes in Gray, Silver, Gold and Pink color options and is up for sale in China. However, there is no word about the global availability of the device.

Huawei Maimang 5 launched in China
Huawei has launched its Maimang 5 Smartphone in China, which is said to go on sale globally with 'Huawei G9' moniker. The smartphone is a successor to the company's Maimang 4, which later launched as Huawei G8 globally.

Huawei has already launched its G9 Lite Smartphone in China in May this year.

Based on variations in RAM and inbuilt storage combinations, the dual-SIM Smartphone comes in two variants. The device is available in 3GB RAM + 32GB and 4GB RAM + 64GB versions.

The Huawei Maimang 5 features a 5.5-inch full-HD resolution IPS display with 1080x1920 pixels resolution. Inside, the handset boasts of an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor and supports microSD card up to 128GB. Maimang 5 runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the company's EMUI 4.1 on top.

The Smartphone sports 16MP rear camera along with an 8MP front-facing camera. Backed by a 3340mAh battery, the the new Huawei supports 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and a USB Type-C port.

The 3G RAM version is available in Champagne Gold and Moonlight Silver color variants, while the 4G RAM variant will comes in Champagne Gold and Rose Gold colors.

The former costs CNY 2399, the latter variant is priced at CNY 2599. It is supposed to go on sale starting July 21.

There are speculations that the Chinese telecom major Huawei may launch its flagship P9 smartphone in India this month. The highlight of Huawei P9 smartphone is its two Leica-made 12MP rear cameras.

Gionee launches F103 Pro with 4G VoLTE support
Chinese Smartphone maker Gionee has launched the latest Smartphone in its F (Fashion) series. Dubbed as Gionee F103 Pro, the device comes in Gold, White and Gray color options at a price tag of Rs 11,999. The Smartphone is available through retail stores and official l Gionee online store.

The F103 Pro flaunts a metal frame design and offers VoLTE support. The handset features a 5-inch HD 2.5D curved display with 720x1280 pixel resolution. The screen is scratch-resistant with a coating of Dragontrail glass. The dual-sim device runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system topped with the Amigo UI of the company.

It packs a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor paired with 3GB RAM. The Samrtphone packs 16GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card. It sports a 13MP primary camera with LED flash and a 5MP secondary camera for selfies. The connectivity options of the handset include 4G, LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. The smartphone is backed by a 2,400 mAh battery.

HTC working on Android Nougat Nexus Smartphones
HTC is reportedly working on two Nexus Smartphones based on Google's latest Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. Dubbed as 'Marlin' and 'Sailfish,' both Smartphones are expected to be launched by the end of this year.

The 'Marlin' features a 5.5-inch QHD Amoled display whereas the smaller 'Sailfish' boasts a smaller 5-inch Full HD display.

The HTC 'Marlin' will reportedly be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC. Other reports indicate a possibility of the yet-to-be-announced Snapdragon 821 or 823 (themselves being rumored names) to be chipset of choice. It is also expected to feature a fingerprint scanner and will house a 12MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing snapper. It will be backed by 4GB of RAM and a 3,450mAh battery. Like the flagship HTC 10, the 'Marlin' will also have a USB Type-C port.

The 'Sailfish' handset reportedly will feature similar hardware specifications, as per other online reports. However, the SoC of choice is still unknown.

After Google revealed the name of Android N recently, HTC was the first to announce the list of its Smartphones that will receive the update. The handsets include HTC 10, HTC One A9 and HTC One M9.

Lenovo Vibe K5 to go on Open Sale
Lenovo has announced that its recently-launched Vibe K5 Smartphone will be available without any pre-registrations starting July 4. Lenovo Vibe K5 will be exclusively available on Amazon India website.

The company claims that over 1 lakh units of the Vibe K5 have been sold since its launch on June 22 in two flash sales. The 4G Smartphone is priced at Rs 6,999.

Lenovo introduced Vibe K5 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 in February this year. It was unveiled along with the company's Vibe K5 Plus, which was launched in India in March at Rs 8,499.

The Android 5.1 Lollipop-based Vibe K5 features a 5-inch HD display of 720x1280 pixel resolution. The phone offers dual-SIM functionality as well.

It is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 415 processor paired with 2GB of RAM. In-built storage of the Smartphone is 16GB, with the ability to use microSD cards of up to 32GB in size.

The device sports a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front-facing camera for selfies. On the connectivity front, the Vibe K5 offers 4G, LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS, with a 2,750mAh battery rounding off the spec sheet. The only difference between the Lenovo Vibe K5 and the Vibe K5 Plus is that the latter sports a Full HD resolution display and a slightly more powerful processor.
