High Speed Compact Flash Memory Card from Transcend released

Transcend has recently declared releasing of high-speed Compact Flash (CF) DRAM memory cards for the Indian consumers. The new 300X series Transcend CF cards will be an extension for its existing flash memory cards.

Dual-channel Ultra DMA (UDMA) mode 5 operation has been incorporated in these extreme speed CF memory cards to provide highest speed. The UDMA will allow these cards to respond at about 45MB per second speed for read/write operation. Too high a speed indeed! Such high-speed communication will ideally benefit high-density video imagery. Continuous video recording by digital SLR cameras using these super speed Transcend CF memory cards will now be a fun affair.

Speaking on the new release, Austin Huang, regional head for sales, Transcend says, “Transcend’s Extreme Speed 300X Compact Flash card delivers amazing read and write speeds making consecutive shooting and non-stop video recording with today’s high-performance DSLR cameras”. Regarding market acceptance of these high-end memory cards, he added, “we are confident that our customers will appreciate the performance and reliability that it offers.”

Besides UDMA, another interesting addition in these cards is implementation of ECC (Error Correction Code) technology. With inbuilt advanced ECC, these CF cards will be able to respond automatically to error detection and their correction in a smart way. Eventually, it will lead high reliability and corruption free data handling.

Presently Transcend has launched these CF memory cards for Indian consumers in three different sizes: 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB. Comparing to their high efficiency and reliability, costs of these cards are not too high. You may need to spend Rs.3,800, Rs.7,500 and Rs.16,500 to get a 4GB, 8GB and 16G Transcend CF memory card respectively.
