Scientists discover the Gene responsible for Obesity in Indians

The scientists have discovered the genetic root that leads to obesity among Indians. A gene sequence is suspected to trigger excess weight gain that leads to a number of ailments including diabetes. It has been detected by a research team in the Imperial College London. This seems to hold hope for the future obesity treatments.

This finding may explain why the Indian Asians are unusually obese and what can be done to prevent its occurrence in the population. The rogue gene that leads to obesity is situated near the MC4R gene. This gene plays vital role in controlling the energy levels in human body.

The lead researcher of the project has said that even though the genetic inheritance can not be stopped but this new finding can point at effective measures to prevent obesity. Apart from understanding the causes of obesity, it would help people to avoid the onset of heart diseases.
